Hey, you probably get this a lot, but what maths is required or helps greatly in architecture, and are there any other subjects that help you as well?

Hi! Thanks for your question.

All subjects are important for architecture schooling. As far as math goes, one needs algebra, trigonometry, and some calculus. These are required courses for an accredited architecture college program. I am unsure about how much of that one will use in architecture, as it varies.

Other subjects for architecture? Science- especially physics, and basic knowledge of physical science. Pick up a cheap, grade school science textbook. They give basic information that you should know. English and communications is another plus- knowing how to communicate in architecture is paramount. If you have problems conveying your ideas (on paper or in person), you need to overcome those. Social sciences (history, sociology, etc.) are extremely important for understanding one’s clients. You need to understand and comprehend who you are building for. And of course, any art subjects are wonderful to help cultivate your design mind.

I hope this helps you, and thanks for checking out this blog!
